Scott founded Johnston Design Group as an architectural and restorative studio with a clear vision:  To promote well-being, economic resilience, and connecting people with nature and with each other.

He’s been recognized by both the Environmental Protection Agency and the US Green Building Council. Scott focuses his efforts on the values of social and environmental justice, and the way communities come together. His work ranges from net zero homes in natural settings to urban solutions that promote social equity and walkable communities.

Outside of the studio, Scott is a frequent guest lecturer. He also serves on the Urban Land Institute National Senior Housing Council and the Urban League of the Upstate Board of Directors.
